Bali Dancer

Rp15.000.000

This oil painting portrays a Balinese Pendet dancer, a traditional dance also known as Tari Bhatara or Tari Bhatari. Originating as a sacred offering dance, Pendet is performed to welcome the deities and ancestral spirits. Traditionally presented by female dancers in temple courtyards facing the shrine (palinggih), each dancer carries a bokor or canang sari filled with flowers as an offering. In the final movement, the dancers place their offerings at the shrine and scatter flowers as a gesture of reverence and gratitude. The artist beautifully captures the dancer’s serene expression and graceful posture, reflecting the spiritual devotion that lies at the heart of Balinese culture.
