Brown Kompeni

Kompeni is derived from the Dutch word, Compagnie which means a trading partnership or company. Initially, the term Kompeni was used to refer to the Netherlands-chartered Vereenigde Oostindie Compagnie (VOC), also known as the Dutch East India Company from the mid-17th to early 19th centuries in the archipelago. But as it was being developed, it was being exploited for Dutch colonialism.
