Lukman Sinara has been involved in the world of painting since the age of 10. He joined an art studio and explored various techniques, including watercolor, architectural drawing, pastels, and oil painting. However, he took a long break from art to study mechanical engineering and work in various industries for 20 years before finally returning to the world of painting.
Lukman Sinara’s artistic journey started with pure realism, a style he pursued until 2010. He then transitioned to contemporary realism and developed an expressionist approach, utilizing oil paint with dripping and melting techniques. After exploring various subjects, Lukman is now focused on portraying Gautama Buddha in an expressionist style, while continuing to experiment with different techniques. The challenge in painting Buddha lies in capturing his serene and peaceful expression.
Growing up in a Buddhist environment, Lukman’s childhood memories of Buddhism have stayed with him throughout his life. Although he has explored various religions and beliefs, he finds solace in the spiritual teachings of Buddha. He feels that the neutrality of the Buddha can be embraced by people from diverse backgrounds.
Lukman believes that everyone has different tendency, but what’s important is to present the best version of oneself and to explore everything without fear of failure. Lukman currently leads a nomadic lifestyle, moving to different cities every few years. Now, he’s been living in Bali for a year.
