Mother and Child Figure

Rp2.500.000

This hand-carved wooden sculpture portrays a standing female figure with a small child in front of her, a motif that represents fertility, ancestry, and protection. The elongated form and stylized facial features suggest it originates from either the Nias or Batak cultures of North Sumatra, both known for their ancestor and mother-and-child carvings. A loop-like projection at the top may have been used for mounting or suspending the piece during ritual ceremonies. The defined breasts and upright posture emphasize maternal strength and the continuity of lineage.
