Long Ear Ancestor Hudoq Small Mask A

Rp3.000.000

Hudoq is a traditional ritual mask of the Dayak Bahau people from East Borneo. The name Hudoq means “incarnate,” referring to ancestral and sacred beings that descend to bless the earth with fertility. Worn in the Hudoq dance at the start of the planting season or after harvest to drive away crop pests, ask for protection, and give thanks to the ancestral spirits. It also acts as a safe medium for spirits, since direct sight of spirits is believed to bring misfortune. This one symbolises human faces representing Dayak ancestors.
