Gajah Kerdil Flores

Rp12.500.000

This Gajah Kerdil Flores sculpture, which translates to Flores Dwarf Elephant, is inspired by the ancient traditions of Flores, where elephant tusks held deep cultural significance as symbolic dowries in marriage ceremonies. Recent discoveries in Liang Bua, Ruteng, have revealed fossilized remains of the dwarf elephant alongside Komodo dragons and the famed “Hobbit” humans, Homo floresiensis. These discoveries highlight the deep relationship between early humans, Komodo dragons, and dwarf elephants—a bond that shaped the island’s culture and traditions. This sculpture celebrates that legacy, honoring the wisdom of Flores’ ancestors and their respect for the harmony between humans and nature. Through its symbolism, it invites us to cherish and protect cultural heritage, keeping the spirit of Flores alive across generations.
