Airlangga Stone Sculpture

Rp20.000.000

King Airlangga, believed to be an incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is often depicted riding Garuda, the mystical creature from Hindu tradition. After his passing, Airlangga was immortalized in a statue as Lord Vishnu riding Garuda, holding a vessel containing Amrta—the water of eternal life—a symbol of his divine status and eternal connection to the cosmos. In Hindu mythology, Garuda is portrayed with the body of a human and the head, wings, and beak of an eagle. He serves as the sacred mount (vehicle) of Lord Vishnu, the preserver of the universe. Garuda symbolizes the speed of thought and the power of the sun (Surya), while Vishnu represents cosmic balance and protection. Their union reflects a divine role in maintaining harmony throughout the universe.
