Balinese Woman with Lelunakan

This sculpture depicts a Balinese woman wearing a lelunakan, a traditional sideways headdress. According to old Balinese belief, women must keep their hair tied, as loose or untied hair is associated with negative mystical forces or bad spiritual energy. The lelunakan style, often combined with a head scarf, was once reserved for older women or young brides in ritual contexts but now it became a symbol of Balinese elegance and tradition.
