Blue Yellow Tau Andungu Weaving

In Sumbanese, Tau means human and Andungu is skull tree. A human motif is usually believed to ward off evil or serve as a remembrance of the ancestor. Where the Andungu is a representation of the palm tree found in the courtyard of royal residences, where enemies’ or criminals’ skulls are hung, a symbol of courage, heroism and victory.
