Brazza River Asmat Shield

Shields originating from the Brazza River area, located to the north of the City region, are typically characterized by their considerable size and feature abstract designs. The shield heads are either rounded or pointed, adorned in red with a white tip. The motifs showcased on these shields encompass a diverse array of spirals, hooks, bows, circles, and rhomboids, occasionally interconnected to form intricate decorations. The layout exhibits distinct bilateral symmetry, with a central element such as a small rhomboid or circle referred to as the “navel,” marking the plane of symmetry within the design.
