I Made Ada is a master wood carver from Tegalalang, Bali, who has been creating works since 1966 and is widely known for his Garuda Wisnu sculptures. His works have adorned national palaces and drawn the attention of prominent world figures. One of his most unique pieces is a contemporary-style Garuda sculpture that blends traditional Balinese elements with European influences. The statue depicts Garuda in a ballet-like pose, inspired by the graceful angel sculptures he encountered during a trip to Europe with his son, Wayan. Despite its European aesthetic, the statue retains strong Balinese characteristics, particularly in the intricate accessory details. This piece stands as the only Garuda sculpture by Made Ada that combines both contemporary and traditional styles.
