Green Stone Adz C

Papuan stone adz, is a versatile tool with a triangular blade made from jade, set at a right angle to an angled wooden handle and is secured with rattan bindings. Used for tasks such as cutting trees, shaping wood, hollowing canoes, and other daily activities, it is an essential tool in both coastal and mountainous regions. Each family member owns an adz, with children receiving their first small version as early as age four. Beyond its practical use, the adz holds deep cultural significance as a ceremonial object, trade item, and family heirloom.
