Horse coin banks are inspired by the culture of saving during the Majapahit era. Most likely, the money kept inside was in the form of kepeng, gobog, or kasha coins. The baskets on either side of the horse can also be used to place small candles. It features the distinct Kasongan style—an area in Yogyakarta renowned for its traditional pottery and earthenware. The horse is a symbolic figure often found at the welcome gate to Kasongan, representing hospitality and cultural identity.
