Kaliling Wooden Container

Rp2.200.000

This Torajan container was traditionally used to store rice. It features a lid attached with a string and is adorned with the Pa’Barana’Rana motif, which comes from the word barana, meaning banyan tree. This motif symbolizes the hope that future generations will grow strong and easily find sustenance, like the wide-spreading roots of a banyan. The container is decorated in four sacred colors: black represents death, red symbolizes life, yellow signifies divine blessings, and white stands for purity. Together, these elements reflect the spiritual beliefs and rich cultural traditions of the Torajan people, embodied in the form and meaning of the Tongkonan.
