Kasuomer Headpiece B

Kasuomer is a traditional Asmat headdress crafted from cassowary feathers. Designed as a flat band adorned with feather bundles, it ties at each end with fiber cords. Worn during traditional ceremonies and dances, this head ornament symbolizes the Asmat people’s reverence for nature, which they view as the source of life. Positioned at the highest point of the body, it reflects respect for ancestral spirits and serves as a reminder of the profound connection between the wearer and the natural and spiritual world.
