Lizard Lombok Tobacco Container

Rp950.000

Lombok tobacco containers are traditionally used to store tobacco, betel leaves, or medicinal herbs. Betel chewing, often accompanied by tobacco, has long symbolized hospitality, respect, and communal bonding in Lombok. The removable lid is topped with a carved lizard, a creature believed to possess spiritual power associated with protection, alertness, and good fortune. Along the sides of the container are bird motifs, symbolizing freedom, communication between the human and spiritual realms, and guidance from ancestors. Beyond everyday use, the container is also linked to Lombok’s long standing cockfighting tradition, where it could discreetly hold small blades, reflecting its layered role in social rituals and local practices.
