Long Batak Calendar – Naga Morsarang

Naga Morsarang, is a traditional medicine storage and calendar crafted with intricate cultural symbolism. Typically made with a hollowed cow bone engraved with a detailed calendar, this piece was used to store medicinal herbs and substances. The bone is adorned with carvings of the Naga Morsarang—a mythical creature—skillfully crafted in wood. This item also served as a tool for organizing agricultural and ritual activities, and its engravings and figures were believed to protect the contents and enhance the shaman’s healing powers.
