Shiva, the Hindu god of destruction and transformation, is depicted in a dancing position known as Nataraja, the Lord of the Dance. In this form, Shiva performs the cosmic dance of creation, preservation, and destruction, symbolizing the eternal cycle of the universe. His dance represents the dynamic and rhythmic activity of the universe, and his posture embodies balance and grace. The four hands (chaturbhuja), symbolizes his ability to simultaneously perform many different actions and his all-encompassing nature.
