Blawong is derived from the word “blabak,” which means wooden board or place, and “dhuwung,” which means keris (a traditional Indonesian dagger). So, “blawong” refers to a place where keris is placed on the wall. Generally, blawong is carved with wayang (shadow puppet) figures, but these carvings depict Loro Blonyo, symbolizing hope and harmony within the family.
