Madura Wooden Sandal – Teklek/Bakiak

Bakiak or teklek are Javanese wooden sandals. The wooden sandals with motif of sulur is a combination of Madurese-style motifs mixed with Chinese. It’s traditionally worn by women among the nobility in the past. Now only used for special occasions and ornamental purposes in Madura. Crafted in Sumenep, Madura, from teakwood and painted with decorative paint.
