Maroon Ikat Tau Rainja Pasola

Rp13.500.000

Kombu, the red woven fabric from Sumba, features prominent motifs such as Tau Rianja, representing dancing humans, and Pasola, depicting men on horseback. The dancing human signifies the imminent arrival of rain, symbolizing fertility for the land. Meanwhile, Pasola stands as the crucial yearly ritual in Sumba, occurring before the commencement of the rice planting season. This event consists of a simulated yet fierce battle among horse-riding men who engage in spear-throwing contests. Other figures that are incorporated into this ikat weaving include Rahu (Deer), Kurangu (Lobster), Ularu (Snake), Wuya (Crocodile), Karawulang (Turtle), and Manu (Rooster), which are typical motifs from Kambera, East Sumba.
