Mitutee Noken Beads

Noken is an essential part of daily life in Papua, used to carry everything from garden produce and seafood to personal belongings and even babies. Beyond its practical purpose, it holds deep cultural meaning, symbolizing peace, fertility, and a good life. Smaller noken, known as Mitutee, are typically used for personal items. The art of weaving noken is a tradition reserved for Papuan women, lovingly known as “Mama Noken.”
