Naga Mosarang Rumbi

Rp8.000.000

Rumbi is a traditional wooden rice container from the Batak tribe in Sumatra, crafted from large tree trunks hollowed out to a depth of about 29 cm, forming a circular shape resembling a fish barrel. Beyond storing rice, the Rumbi also serves various purposes, such as holding water and agricultural harvests. Its gorga-shaped handles allow for easy transport, while the fitted lid helps keep contents fresh. At the center of the lid, a carved figure known as Naga Morsarang—a human mounted on a horse—symbolizes spiritual wisdom and strength, reflecting the shaman’s authority and the horse’s role in connecting earthly and spiritual realms. The container’s body is further adorned with intricate Batak motifs, reinforcing its deep cultural and artistic significance.
