Nias Warrior Chief Figure

Rp5.000.000

This Nias warrior chief figure is dressed in traditional war attire that includes an oroba (tin vest) and an ondrodra (loincloth). The chief is holding a detachable baluse (shield) and toho (spear). He is also adorned with a distinctive rai (headpiece) that is exclusively worn by men. The rai, inspired by intricate forms such as fins, tendrils, leaves, and animals, represents the wearer’s elevated social status. Its height and elaborate adornments reflect wealth accumulated through trade or victories in battle, with the most ornate designs reserved for the highest-ranking figures in southern Nias society.
