Pa’tedong Wooden Painting

Torajan carvings are known for their symmetrical geometric motifs, each carrying deep symbolic meaning. The central figure, called Pa’tedong, represents buffalo horns, symbolizing strength and wealth. Surrounding motifs include Pa’repo’ (intersecting lines), which signify order and harmony; Pa’bunga (flower patterns), associated with fertility and life; and Pa’sulur (curved lines or swirls), which represent a connection to ancestors and spiritual energy.
