Lombok’s woven songket boasts dual usability for day and night. Combining the popular Subahnale motif with Alang along the edges, Subahnale features decorative flower-like patterns surrounded by geometric motifs resembling beehives, known as kurungan. The interconnected motifs, placed in a scattered pattern, create a rich tapestry. Meanwhile, Alang draws inspiration from the Sasak tribe’s post-harvest storage, symbolizing prosperity. The quality of this textile is defined not only by its base material but also by the thickness of the threads used in the weaving process. This particular piece is made with thicker, triple-layered threads, resulting in a denser structure and a more substantial feel. The layered use of gold threads creates a subtle shimmering effect, enhancing its depth and giving the fabric a refined, luxurious finish.
