Lobsters are aquatic animals known for walking in groups, a trait that intrigues the Sumbanese people, as reflected in their traditional saying: “Kura Angu Kudu, Karongu Angu Londa,” meaning “Lobsters are shoulder companions, Crabs are hand companions.” This expression symbolizes brotherhood, unity, and strength. The lobster motif also represents the Sumbanese ancestral belief in life after death, symbolizing hope for eternal life and the transformation from the current life to a different existence.
