This container was used by the Batak Tribes in Sumatra to store medicines or jewelry. Carved from one piece of wood. It features Singa (mythical protective creatures) heads looking up on each end of the box. Despite the name, the Singa has a human-like face with a protruding tongue and is regarded in Batak mythology as a mythical protective creature.
