Surya Majapahit, or the Majapahit Sun, is a symbol often found in the ruins of Majapahit temples. It has the shape of a sun with eight pointed corners, symbolizing the eight cardinal directions and Hindu deities, which are Lord Iswara (East), Lord Maheswara (Southeast), Lord Brahma (South), Lord Rudra (Southwest), Lord Mahadeva (West), Lord Sangkara (Northwest), Lord Vishnu (North), Lord Sambhu (Northeast), Lord Shiva (center). During the rise of the Majapahit era, it is suggested that the symbol served as the imperial emblem. This symbol was featured in fine arts, architecture, heirlooms, vessels, jewelry, terracotta works, statues, and inscriptions.
