Ulos Sadum Dame Madi Hita

Ulos is a traditional handwoven textile of the Toba Batak people from Medan, North Sumatra, symbolizing warmth, affection, and protection. Traditionally used in important life ceremonies such as weddings and births, it holds deep cultural and spiritual meaning. This particular piece is an Ulos Sadum, featuring the phrase “DAME MADI HITA”, meaning “May peace be upon us,” refers to a blessing bestowed by the giver to the recipient. Through Ulos, the Batak people sustain a living connection to their ancestors, beliefs, and communal harmony.
