Wayang Gobog Majapahit Wooden Coin

This coin blends Chinese, Javanese, and Balinese symbolism, serving both cultural and spiritual purposes. Its round shape with a hole in the center reflects Chinese beliefs in harmony between heaven and earth, used in Feng Shui to attract balance and wealth. The Javanese script Padhajayanya, meaning
“equally strong,” along with two carved wayang figures, symbolizes duality and the coexistence of opposing forces. In Balinese Hindu belief, such coins-especially those with engraved wayang images-are considered sacred and believed to hold magical powers. Known as Gobog Majapahit, these coins were made of copper or bronze during the Majapahit era and reflect the close connection between art, belief, and daily life.
