Prabu Matswapati is the wise and respected king of the Kingdom of Wirata in the Mahabharata and Javanese wayang tradition. Known for his generosity, wisdom, and strong sense of justice, he played an important role as an ally of the Pandawa during their years of exile. As the father of Raden Seta, Raden Utara, and Dewi Utari, Matswapati was deeply devoted to both his family and his kingdom. He is remembered for supporting the Pandawa in their struggle for righteousness and later contributing troops and resources during the great Baratayuda War. In Nusantara wayang tradition, Prabu Matswapati symbolizes wise leadership, loyalty, and unwavering support for truth and justice.
