Batik Semen Sido Asih is a classical batik motif originating from Yogyakarta. The term “Semen” originates from “Semi,” meaning spring, and refers to the ornamental vine-like plant patterns in the design. The motif features two separate wings of the Garuda Bird (lar) with intricate background patterns (isen-isen) resembling vines. “Sido Asih” combines two Javanese words: “Sido,” meaning to be done, and “Asih,” meaning love. Together, it symbolizes a life filled with love and affection. Traditionally worn by brides during wedding ceremonies, this motif reflects hopes for a flourishing and harmonious marital union.
