Dalihan na Tolu Boat Wooden Box

This Batak heirloom box was traditionally used to store treasured possessions and jewelry. Carved in the form of a boat-like structure topped with a traditional Batak house, the piece symbolizes ancestral journeys and reflects the deep connection between the Batak people and Lake Toba. In Batak culture, boats are often associated with migration and the journey of ancestors across both physical and spiritual realms. The lid is adorned with Gorga Dalihan na Tolu motifs, featuring intertwined vine-like carvings that symbolize the Batak philosophy of balance, respect, and harmony within the community.
