The Buffalo Head

Rp50.000.000

A buffalo’s head is typically a sign of greatness in some regions of Indonesia such as the Batak, Toraja, Sumba, Timor and Flores. This symbol shows the form of valor and masculinity (satria) of each tribe that must be displayed to the public in order to demonstrate the bearer’s prowess and fortitude of the owner of this buffalo head symbol. The buffalo is then given as part of the marriage dowry to show the man’s capacity to provide for his future wife and offspring.
