Batik Naga Lasem, originating from Java’s northern coastal areas, showcases a harmonious blend of Javanese and Chinese influences. It features the naga or dragon, a symbol of luck and prosperity in Chinese culture, alongside characters such as 福 (fú), meaning “blessing,” and 善 (shàn), meaning “virtue.” Together, these elements convey messages of prosperity, integrity, and harmony. Unlike batik encim from Pekalongan, which was influenced by Dutch styles, Batik Lasem often uses vibrant red, blue, and green hues inspired by Ming Dynasty porcelain, reflecting a unique fusion of traditions and rich symbolism.
